The initiative flips the script on the long-standing housing debate between “Not in My Backyard” (NIMBY) resistance and “Yes in My Backyard” (YIMBY) advocacy. Instead of avoiding development, faith institutions are saying “yes” to welcoming deeply affordable and supportive housing—on their own land.
Many religious institutions own large parcels of underutilized property—parking lots, open fields, or unused buildings—that are ripe for redevelopment.
